I believe we all have an innate drive towards emotional healing but sometimes we need support to tap into that, especially during times of significant difficulty and change. My role in our therapy is to listen closely and support you in ways tailored to your individual needs so that you may understand yourself more deeply, connect with your own agency, expand your capacity, and feel greater ease in your daily life.
My approach to Therapy is collaborative, client-centred, rooted in non-judgement, empathy, and a desire to build a unique relationship with each person I work with. A guiding principal in my practice is that Therapy is most effective when the relational fit between Therapist and Client is strong. I aim to bring my authentic self to my work in the spirit of creating a space where clients can do the same.
My training is in a Relational model of Psychotherapy which means that I pay close attention to the ways that relationships, both past and present, shape people's experiences, ways of being, and personal challenges. It also means that I place a great deal of importance on the quality of the relationship between myself and each client, with an eye to what happens in the here-and-now of the therapy we do together. My work is also informed by a range of other modalities and theoretical frameworks including Somatic approaches, Parts Work, Mindfulness, and Buddhist Psychotherapy.
I believe passionately in creativity and artistic expression as an integral part of what it means to be human, and I enjoy supporting clients in tapping into their creativity as a tool for increasing well-being.
Therapy can be challenging but I endeavour to meet each client where they’re at and to bring warmth, gentle curiosity, and levity into our sessions. I hope that together we will find a way of working that feels right for you.
I am sensitive to the ways that various forms of systemic oppression, social bias, and stigma, can impact health and wellbeing. I value and affirm diverse identities and life experiences.
